princess makeupprincess makeup

Why women have to wear make up and cannot look/be simple like men?

Why can’t they just not put too much effort on losing weight, doing make up, buying princess looking and not use full clothes and worry more about important things, like paying bills, fixing the house, etc, etc.

I agree. I thought feminism was supposed to end all this fixation on looks.

    Because women are insecure primates.

I think you’d be surprised if you actually opened your eyes. That’s the stereotype for women, but it’s more often than not false.

You remind me of that guy from the movie My Fair Lady.

    Make up hides the ugly.

Um. What planet are you from, may I ask? Women do NOT "have to" do any of that stuff. There may be pressure, but there’s also pressure on men. And not one of us has to give in to it. You can ignore it and still live a good life and be treated properly.

I get up at 6 every morning, make coffee/breakfast, get my kids to school, pick up the baby I babysit, come back and feed/water chickens, clean the house, cook another 2 meals that day, help kids with homework and do it all in makeup most days. I’d say my superficial qualities are way outdone by the important things I fill my life with.

Because if some females didn’t pay a lot of attention to their weight and their appearance they would not look as good as they do. So many men think that all a woman has to do is jump out of bed, run a brush through their hair, throw on some clothes and go. While that might have worked for me at 15, it really hasn’t flown since the age of 21 or so. Women put a lot of effort into looking good for themselves and for others. And women do worry about the house and paying bills too. They have to. Guess you’d have to be a woman to understand what I’m trying to say.

Who says women have to wear make-up? A lot of the one’s I know don’t except on special occasions.

  9. Not so cool

If females stopped buying in the name of vanity this whole world of commerce would collapse. There would also immediately be an even greater depression and millions if not billions, would be thrown onto the dole queues. The positive side would be a lot of animals would be safer, there would be less pollution, and the world would be a safer place. Males would not have to slave away keeping a life for wife and children that they but not him are accustomed to. Now hand me the remote I need to watch a rerun of bridezilla so I can validate what I wrote.

My grandmother answered that question for me when I was just a little tyke.

The answer is: "You have to paint an old barn".

simple like men? you mean to tell me the majority of men dont fixate on having the "perfect" body either? all the working out and worrying if their penis is large enough?

and fyi, women DO worry about "important things".
my mother has been the one taking care of EVERYTHING in our house. my father didnt give a hoot, he would rather go out with his buddies and drink, buy himself expensive clothing, primp and groom his hair to make sure he looked "handsome" (in his opinion). that’s why my mother and father are no longer together.

We can’t do anything right by you, can we, skippy? If we try to look pretty you criticize us for not being more like men. If we ignore our looks, you criticize us for trying to look like men. If we work to pay the bills, you criticize us for being men. If we stay home with the kids, you criticize us for being selfish, lazy and greedy.

You don’t get to call the shots. Make up what passes for your teeny little boy-brain, will you? (Not that it matters . . . )

what the heck??? not only can women do it ALL, ie, pay bills, clean house, give birth, raise children, have a career, get an education, and be the breadwinners of the household (many times doing it ALONE), but…they can look damn good doing it! If it makes us feel good to wear make-up, then we wear it, but we don’t have to.

Did you say so women can be simple like men? I couldn’t agree more that men are simple.

The women I know work and pay the bills and take care of their homes and families and don’t have a lot of time or money for makeup and fancy clothes. It’s not my thing, but I didn’t grow up with much, so I’m not obsessed with acquiring things like many middle class, upper class, and wealthy Americans. When you grow up with little, you realize what’s important in life. But if men and women have lots of money, they have the right to spend it how they like, even if it’s on things I’d never care about.

i think the whole makeup argument is a stupid and futile one – if a woman wants to wear makeup, its doesnt make her ugly and trying to hide it. i personally think that makeup is extremely creative, like art, and its up to the woman in how she expresses herself with it, its a beautiful thing.
